His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Born in 1949, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed is the third of four sons. He was privately tutored before beginning his formal education, eventually attending the Bell School of Languages at Cambridge University in 1966.
In 1995, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed was appointed Crown Prince of Dubai with the primary objective of overseeing the transformation of the emirate into the world’s most luxurious resort and business destination. A leader with inspired vision, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed has played an influential role in developing many of the ‘megaprojects’ for which Dubai is renowned; Burj Dubai, the world’s tallest building, the three Palm Islands and The World, and Burj Al Arab the world’s only seven star hotel. In 2006, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed succeeded his late brother H.H. Sheikh Maktoum and was named Ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed was a promising athlete and an accomplished player of tennis and football, but equestrianism was, and remains, his true sporting passion. Through his continuous efforts and commitment, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed has established Dubai’s credentials as one of the globe’s premier sports destinations. |
